Pre-flop betting phase

The pre-flop betting phase in poker is an essential part of the game. Each player is dealt two cards, called hole cards, and must decide whether to raise or fold. Players can either continue to bet the amount of the big blind or raise in proportion to the players to their left. The betting phase starts with the player to the left of the big blind, and will continue until the final player shows their hole cards. If a player has a high card, they should bet.

When the board is revealed, many players make a feeler bet. Often, a player will raise after his opponent raises. Sometimes, the caller will raise, as he is afraid of losing money. In such situations, it is better to raise a bet if he has a strong hand. However, if he has an uncertain hand, he should check his bet.
